Navigating up these windy creeks makes for daily adventures. It's crazy to see their difference at high and low tide.

I need to get better at taking pics of my neighbors. There are so many deer - often darting out in front of my car. They are so graceful and fun to watch!

The three previous pictures were taken at the same time, but the sky looked so different at every angle.

The oystercatchers are grouping up! We spent a good amount of time looking at all their bands and trying to read them. Banding resights are important to report so that we can track these guys! They can prove quite difficult to read - there are different colors, some are vertical while others are horizontal, and some have three characters in a triangular display. Combine all that with the fact that they're on the little legs of moving birds and you have quite a headache sometimes, but boy is it rewarding when you finally get the combination.

Depending on the island, how we have to get there, how we have to launch etc. we need certain tides. The tide times are different every day and for every specific inlet or shoal etc., so it takes a lot of careful planning . Once we figure out the tides then we have to cross check with the weather. This week the tides meant a couple days where we had driven the boat to a dock and got it in the water before sunrise! I honestly love the early mornings because of beautiful lighting, we're the only ones around, the birds are extra active, and it's cooler!
