I caught a lift with my coworker for a weekend in beautiful Baltimore. The four hour drive was manageable and scenic and the weekend went wonderfully. We went for restaurant week and for all the sites (and sights) the harbor city has to offer.
We started with drinks at a place with a vast cocktail menu - and bartenders with an even more vast knowledge. We chose a liquor and told the bartenders flavors we like and he concocted drinks perfectly suited to all of us.
We continued on to dinner at Alma Cocina Latina. Wow. From the moment you walked in the atmosphere transported you outside of Baltimore to a vibrant restaurant in South America.
Luckily it wasn't only the decor and atmosphere that was amazing, but also the food and service! We had a fantastic meal.
Bison tongue, duck, and tuna.
Seared Ahi
Duck
Saturday morning we headed off to the National Aquarium. This aquarium had a fantastic flow and set up as well as amazing exhibits.
Mr. Trashman - the caricature created for the trash pick up machinery.
The second night we had dinner at a Sicilian place! I had a chicken dish over polenta with apricots - and spice! It was yum
Farmer's market was bomb. THIS was a real farmer's market. We started with these yum biscuits so we wouldn't be shopping on an empty stomach!!
We visited Fort McHenry - from which the flag flew that Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner about.
We climbed up the 14 flights of marble stairs of the original Washington Monument for this view of the city. My calves were sore for a week!
We got to eat our farmer's market finds for dinner! Yum
